GWA Leucate : Nia Suardiaz, Bowien van der Linden, Mathis Ghio, Alan Fédit and Xavi Corr winners in Mondial du Vent

From April 5 to 10, the French leg of the GWA Wingfoil World Tour took place in Leucate during the Mondial du Vent, in the Surf-Freestyle and Freefly-Slalom disciplines. After a first day blessed by a divine Tramontane, the wind was then much desired, giving us only a very irregular sea breeze. Almost the entire Surf-Freestyle leaderboard was contested on this first day, where new scoring rules concerning Combos and Innovations pushed riders to send ever higher, ever more technical and ever more impressive tricks. Over the rest of the week, short windy opportunities made it possible to launch several rounds of Freefly-Slalom, a new very technical and difficult discipline in light wind conditions with its pumping track. Only two Eliminations could be validated for the Men, and three for the Women. Enough to see a French trio on the men’s podium! For Men’s Surf-Freestyle, an unprecedented situation concluded the Mondial du Vent: two tied winners, as well as two tied third places! Indeed, the Grand Final and the Mini Final could not be contested due to the lack of sufficient conditions… Too bad, because given the program Alan Fédit vs Xavi Corr but also Balz Muller vs Axel Gérard, we would have seen a stratospheric level wingfoiling! Here are the results below, but stay tuned, I’m preparing a detailed article for you on this GWA Mondial du Vent stage seen from the inside, since I was lucky enough to be present on site throughout the competition!
