GWA Wingfoil World Tour Brazil 2022 – Day One Highlights

The game is on at the GWA Wingfoil World Tour final in Taiba, Brazil! Pure Surf-Freestyle conditions were matched by hot performances on day one in Taiba where Gollito Estredo, Malo Guenole and Christopher MacDonald started their final battles for the world championship.

Riders from all over the world arrived to compete for the titles of World Champions, and you can find out the different scenarios of who can still win in our latest article. 33 men and 12 women signed-up for Surf-Freestyle, while Surf-Slalom saw an increase of 41 Men and 14 women who will battle it out around the courses later in the week.

The men’s surf-freestylers were first to play and the other fleets were released for the day. The conditions were perfect, even technical, with wind and waves. It was only a formality for the favorites (Tom Auber, Titouan Galea, Christopher MacDonald, Gollito Estredo, Malo Guénolé, Julien and Camille Bouyer…) to qualify directly for round 3. Unfortunate draw for Xavi Corr, winner of the last event in Tarifa, who was defeated by the Brazilian ex windsurfing world champion, Kauli Seadi. Special mention to Malo Guénolé, expert in these conditions, who scored the highest score of the day with 23.36!
