The all-new FreeWing AIR V5 is here ! Designed for riders of all levels, this latest version delivers a combination of enhanced durability, reduced weight, and increased responsiveness. This ultimate versatile wing is designed to perform across all disciplines, whether you’re cruising on flat water, carving waves, riding downwind, or pushing freestyle boundaries, the FreeWing Air V5 is for you. Here is a quick lookout at all the new features.
Materials
Ultra-X Exclusive Canopy: The new three-layer Ultra-X laminate weighs only 86 g/m² while offering four times the durability of traditional woven canopies. Its low-stretch properties ensure long-lasting performance and immediate response to rider input. (More info about the Ultra-X in our latest interview with Clinton Filen, FreeWing Design Director).
Ho’okipa Ultra PE Leading Edge and Strut: This material utilizes Supercharged Ultra PE weave for superior performance and enhanced durability.
Shape
Progressive Load Frame Structure: The leading edge is built with a dual-grade high-tenacity Dacron frame, combining HD 260 Dacron in the center with 160 g Dacron on the outer sections. This construction increases stiffness and stability, optimizing the wing’s performance in varied conditions.
Optimized Geometry: Featuring a mid-aspect ratio and a short center strut, the FreeWing AIR V5 offers a compact power balance. This design improves maneuverability, making jibes and tacks effortless while ensuring excellent drift stability when depowered.
Enhanced Center Strut Connection: The tapered center strut features a wide, reinforced connection at its base, creating a stiffer overall structure. This design enhances pumping efficiency, acceleration, and top-end speed.
12.5-Degree Dihedral Leading Edge: This design generates additional power when sheeting in and provides unique stability when the wing is in a neutral position.
Equipments
Pre-Preg Carbon Boom with Pistol Grip: The V5 features an ultra-light, pre-preg carbon boom optimized for strength-to-weight ratio. It has a minimized 23 mm diameter thickness with a unique soft-touch oval EVA grip. At just 345 grams, it sets a benchmark in performance, control, and comfort. The boom is 109 cm long and can remain attached inside the FreeWing bag for easy transport.
Longer battens : The longer battens remove all flutter regardless of wind strength, providing an silent and comfortable riding experience
Optimized Window Placement: The windows are strategically positioned to maintain optimal visibility while reducing unnecessary weight and bulk.
Flagging handle : The new flagging handle is light and stiff for the ultimate control when flagging the wing.
One pack wing bag : The vented bag accommodates the wing, a pump, accessories and the 109 cm long boom, taht you can keep attached to the wing. It’s equipped with a carry handle, shoulder strap, an outside zipper pocket and tie-down strap. One of the strongest bags on the market, made from Waste2Wear recycled plastic bottles.
Light wind – three strut design
Available for the 7m² and 8m², the three strut configuration stabilizes the additional area in the wingtips and allows adding more surface into a given wingspan to create a lower aspect wing. Additionally, the wingtip struts stabilize the canopy for increased top-end speed.
Sizes
The FreeWing Air V5 is available in sizes from 2.5m² to 8m², allowing you to sail from 5 knots up to +26 knots, and in two colors: red or blue.
