155km : the biggest wingfoil upwind downwind of Sam Esteve

Every day, riders push the limits of wingfoiling, whether in freestyle or long distance. Today, we are going to talk about this last category with Sam Estève, pro windsurfer who is part of the PWA World Tour in freestyle, but who is also known for his various nautical adventures. If in 2020 he had made a 30km duo crossing on a prone paddleboard in the Pyrénées Orientales, this time it was alone and on a wingfoil, with his Cabrinha wing and foil and his JP Australia board, that he embarked on a round trip between Sainte-Marie-La-Mer (Pyrénées-Orientales) and Cap Creus, in Spain, i.e. 155km!
In the description of his video, he says:

Last week, I had the idea to organize a one day wingfoil expedition, and to do my biggest downwind ever. I started my run in the village of St Marie la Mer, in the south of France. I went upwind to Cap Creus, Spain and came back downwind to the starting point. I was lucky that the conditions were good all day with 12-15knots in the morning and 30knots side on shore in the afternoon. This foils allows me to go where I would never have imagined going, in this trip I enjoyed seeing the fish, the coast and the sailboats. I love surfing the swell downwind, it’s like snowboarding off-piste, you can choose where you want to go and the playground is so huge. I took 5 hours for the upwind and 3 hours for the downwind with a lap of 154,8 km in 8:07 hours.

Between views of the different Capes, crossings with boaters and other riders, but without forgetting the sandwich break, discover his adventure in the video above.
